32 in 32: Smile at Your Enemies

The goal should be to instinctively upon looking adversity in the face – smile & truly believe that “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” Asking yourself “Why me?” is ok if it comes from a grounded perspective, and you ask in order to find a productive purpose of the situation. But it often is asked when a person is feeling bad for him/herself, and that should be avoided. As I explained in my last post, it is recommended to focus on the positives in any circumstance. But take note that you shouldn’t focus exclusively on the positives. As I touched on in Enough is Enough and Mindset Control: Get PISSED OFF, you can use adversity as fuel towards greatness. You can flip negatives into positives because nothing is quite able to jumpstart your drive and energy like a desperate situation. Most people – when their back is against the wall, they battle back eventually. This post is emphasizing to fight back instinctively using positive mindset control. Nothing quite intimidates negativity like positive energy in the face of it. So next time an enemy – a situation or person – has you on the ropes, take a step back and smile at it. Then take a step forward & see what or who is taking a step back now.

David Goggins (31:00) – “Every instructor that put me through Buds, my job – what drove me, was I wanted you to go home that night after you beat the living shit out of me and I smiled in your face, I wanted you to feel worse than I did, and you’re going home to a nice warm bed with your wife or your kids, and a nice meal, and I was still out there in the grip suffering for another hundred hours. I wanted you to think about me knowing that I’m comfortable being very f****** uncomfortable … I use the hurt that you’re trying to put on me; I flip it upside down and use it. You’re trying to use it for kryptonite? No, it’s power pillars for me. I’m using it for strength. I flip negatives into positives; it’s all it is.”

Tupac Shakur (1:05) – “There’s gonna’ be some stuff you gonna’ see that’s gonna’ make it hard to smile in the future. But through whatever you see, through all the rain and the pain, you gotta’ keep your sense of humor. You gotta’ be able to smile through all this bullshit …”
