Mike Tyson (0:39): “When I come out, I have supreme confidence, but I’m scared to death. I’m totally afraid. I’m afraid of everything. I’m afraid of losing, I’m afraid of being humiliated. But I’m totally confident. The closer I get to the ring, the more confident I get … Once I’m in the ring, I’m a God. No-one can beat me.”

Will you make it to your ring?

In my last post, I focused on the self-development journey to know yourself. People hesitate with that first step on the road, due to fear of not having the tools necessary for the battles. It’s an interesting setup because you only realize you’ve got what it takes after the journey. Upon starting, your fortitude is unclear. As I touched on in Too Blessed to be Stressed, you must reign and rein in your power instinctively. Even while walking through the valley of the shadow of death & the unknown, have faith that upon entering your ring everything will be crystal clear.

From the movie The Book of Eli – Character: Have you ever thought that maybe you were lost? … Eli: Nope … Character: Well, how do you know that you’re walking in the right direction? … Eli: I walk by faith, not by sight … Character: What does that mean? … Eli: It means that you know something even if you don’t know something.

Like everything pretty much, the depth and meaning of this post is up to you. Similar to the quest to find your inner peace, all cheat codes are locked. You can’t take anybody or anything with you to the battlefield. It‘s between the ears, or perhaps between the nipples, or maybe somewhere undefined? You figure it out. As Kanye West says in Jesus Walks, “Most of all, we at war with ourselves … “

So look in your eyes and decide. At the steps of your ring above – will you Forget Everything And Run, or Face Everything And Rise?

“Look me in the eye. It’s ok if you’re scared. So am I. But we’re scared for different reasons. I’m scared of what I won’t become, and you’re scared of what I could become. Look at me. I won’t let myself in where I started. I won’t let myself finish where I began. I know what is within me, even if you can’t see it yet. Look me in the eyes. I have something more important than courage. I have patience. I will become what I know I am.”
