32 in 32: All Talk

Don’t be that person who only “talks the talk“, knows how to do things but never does them, and is motivated but not disciplined. As I referenced in Built Swagger, powerful mindsets without proper action is meaningless. It’s about consistency in action, which is much harder said than done. Once there’s motivation to achieve something, action must follow immediately … don’t wait because the hardest part is getting started. Wait & procrastination will follow. As Brandon Carter explains in a YouTube Video, you build discipline by “just f****** do[ing] what you’re supposed to do when you’re supposed to do it regardless of if you feel like it or not” (1:50). True commitment involves placing motivation in your head, but not relying on the motivation to always be activated. Because many times it won’t be, and you must grind away despite that. Sounds hard? Because it is. One must approach tasks day by day, hour by hour usually in order to build the consistency of habit necessary to become the best version of himself/herself. Get started.

John C. Maxwell – “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

Elliot Hulse (00:34) – “Motivation is bullshit. Motivation doesn’t get anything done. Motivation gets you going. Discipline, commitment, strong habits is what gets things done.”
