32 in 32: Seeing Success ?

Close your eyes & imagine dominating a task you will do later today. Envision everything going down positively. Now see what happens … Of course there’s no guarantee of success – particularly if the dominance you envisioned is too overwhelming for your current skill-set or reality – but there is real power in the strategy of visualization. Due to already experiencing “XYZ” in your head, there are less surprises when you experience “XYZ” in reality. Just by envisioning it, it’s like you’ve been there before. Take Football legend Jim Brown, who envisioned his game/life moves before completing them. It’s no surprise that dude had a different aura/confidence about himself than his peers as a result. There’s truth in Henry Ford’s famous quote, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right!” And if you already see success, you don’t just think you can but you know you can. The first step to acquiring experience – and the confidence with that – is to acquire it in your mind. Do that first & then proactively shape your reality into that.

Jim Brown in a 1968 Interview (halfway into interview)- “My game pivoted on having planned ahead of time every move I intended to make on the field … I was concentrating, visualizing things that I knew could happen and what I would do if it went this way or that way. I knew I had it working right when I started seeing plays in my mind almost like I was watching television … I’d see plays running and things happening—see myself starting a run and having to make spur-of-the-moment changes of strategy and direction. Every play I ever ran, I had already run a thousand in my mind. … You get a jump on the game when you visualize beforehand not only the regular plays you run but also the hundred and one other things that might happen unexpectedly. So when you’re in the actual game, whatever happens, you’ve already seen it in your mind and plotted your countermoves—instantly and instinctively.”

Eric Thomas (00:31) – “I want your dream to be so clear, so vivid that when you wake up in the morning all you have to do is step in your dream … the first level to success in the classroom, the first level to success in school, the first level to success in sports, the first level to success in life – listen to me, the very first level, the very 1st level is you seeing it! Like it’s clear to you, like you know exactly what you want, you know exactly when you want it … “
